Keep a flashlight(with batteries) and a manual can-opener in my pantry.
To be prepared for any emergency, put together a kit and include at least a three day supply of non-perishable food:
Select foods that require no refrigeration, preparation or cooking and little or no water.
Pack a manual can opener and eating utensils.
Avoid salty foods, as they will make you thirsty.
Choose foods your family will eat.
The following is a suggested list of items to keep on hand in the event of an emergency.In addition it is recommended to keep a three day supply of water,based on 1 gallon per person per day.

Keeping a well stocked pantry is an ongoing process which, if you're just starting out, may take several months to build, but will save money throughout the year.Take advantage of sales,coupons and closeouts.
